Panko Pizazz!

Panko Bread Crumbs PankoPanko hails from Japan and it is becoming ever so popular! Its’ a type of crisp, light, larger breadcrumb than what you have seen in the past. The crumbs are used to coat food for frying or sauteing and you can use in recipes as well. Many cooks use as a filler for meatloaf and meatballs.  Because the texture is more coarse than the smaller finer powdery breadcrumbs, it makes a delicious crunchy crust. Now that it’s more popular you can find at most grocery stores in the Asian Section. I like to use it as the coating for our fabulous crabcakes with a little Cajun seasoning added in!
